Considering an AFT cabin with balcony facing rear-pros and cons??

I've heard that it is rougher in the rear of the ship but we're looking at booking a mini-suite on our Alaskan cruise there. I've also heard that with the newer ships, the rockingness in the rear isn't like it was on older vessels. I've also heard that it is the best place to be since it breaks down the wind when sailing. I'd love to hear pros and cons from those who have had balcony ships facing the rear. Thanks, Vic

It would help if you list the ship you are considering .........

But overall, I would almost always choose an aft cabin if you can. Yes, there is more motion back there but it is tolerable.

The possibility of having the view on both sides would outweight any negatives in my opinion. And depending on the ship, many aft balconies are larger then the average balcony.

Have sailed aft on Explorer, Millenium and Grand.

Go for it! I doubt you will regret it.

Thanks Theresa. Yes, I should mention the ship is NCL Sun, Norway deck, mini-suite facing directly back (sandwiched in between 2 owner's suites). Thanks again.

I'm curious about your experience. Did you end up keeping your cabin in the aft of the ship. I have booked the exact cabin and I'm unsure about the movement of the ship. We are sailing to alaska on the sun.
Thanks,
Hope you find this post!!
