Wow you were on the love boat. And I had finished college and was just beginning my RN program. Good advice about the lido deck and yes indeed go Cubbies!! Wouldn't it be something if they actually won it all. 
Chicago had great celebrations for the Bulls and Sox but if the Cubs won it all......

Hi, Larry. I did not notice that when I was on AOS a few years ago and I do believe I would have. Sounds strange to me and I have not had that experience on any other ships I can recall.
Hope you are well. I am not "here" much anywhere as we have pretty much given up on cruising these days.

"Given up on cruising"? You? Why? have you just had enough for a while? I hope all is well. We are fine thank God and in fact just booked a full transit Panama Canal Cruise in Feb. on the Island Princess. Take care K and I hope you are not a stranger. Thanks for all you help and advice.
Linda I just had not noticed that B4 and found it very weird but in casual conversation with other passengers the answers were all the same. Go figure. Oh well. Any RC gave us complimentary strawberries dipped in chocolate.

Larry, yes, we have just had enough for awhile. I am done with the crowds, the lines due to reduced staff, the kids running wild, the ball caps and shorts in the dining room at dinner, the nickel and diming for everything.
The main stream lines have become everything I don't like to put up with when on vacation.
We are off to Excellence Playa Mujeres for the 4th weekend for some quiet luxury and then will be in Germany and Austria in December on our big trip for the year.
I'll pop in from time to time.

Like you, we are retired. We took a cruise every two years before retirement and now cruise twice a year.
We started with interior rooms, graduated to exterior view, then balcony, and finally to suites. In the beginning our choice was dictated by date and debakation. Then it became debarkation and itinerary.
Then, after trying five or six cruise lines, we found that NCL was a perfect fit for us. They maintain just the proper balance between traditional and neo cruise styles.
We enjoy the private butler and concierge service provided for suite holders. Yet, the open dining, reasonably priced specialty restaurants (including tapas)are nice modern touches.
Now we make our cruise selction, exclusively, based on NCL itineraries. We even have preferred ships.
We did Hawaii at the beginning of '08 and will do Eastern Med in Nov. In '09 we're on two cruises: Trans-Atlantic and Baltic.
The way I figure it, my grandfather traveled to Americay from Ireland in the bowels of a ship in "steerage class". I honor him and America by celebrating my retirement in my "owner's suite", asking my butler to plan our "in suite" dinner, my concierge to plan tommorrow's activities while my steward serves afternoon apertiffs on our balcony.
Freguent sailing benefits are nice as well. Comp canapes, bubbly, three private parties, etc. It's NCL for us.
Soooo....the moral of the story is: It's an evolving thing.
By the way, I do my own booking and now have a personal NCL agent. She watches over me like a mother hen.
