Has anyone sailed on this ship - was thinking about doing a spring break trip with 2 teens and other families - is it a good ship for teens? Thanks for any thoughts

My son just came home from his honeymoon in July on this ship. His wife had cruised 4 times before and he was second time cruiser. They gave mixed reviews. I was interested as I am going on Star Princess in Feb.05.
They said that overall it held way too many people for their taste. They said it felt far more crowded than Grand or Star. This new ship has added another level of cabins and they could feel the difference in people. They also said it was much better for kids and teens than for couples. The center ship is a big movie set up.
I think it would be fine for families and teens if you like a lot of activity and a very big ship. Food reviews were mixed too, and they definitely did not think the $20 extra per charge dining arrangements were worth it. They thought it was about equal quality overall as the regular dining room and not as good as they'd hoped it would be.

There are two venues on the ship where you can eat (by reservation as in any restaurant) that charge extra. One is $20 and one is $10 aproximately, I can't remember the exact amounts. The steak house one is the $20 per person surcharge, I think.
In personal choice dining you have three regular dining halls to pick from with different names, Amalfi, Capri etc.
But with these two restaurants there is an extra charge per person, per meal. Of course, you don't have to do this and can eat in any of the others for no extra charge. And also at the buffets for no extra charge.
The critics are downtown Chicago people who know very high quality cooking when exhibited, and they just thought that this was ok- but not "it." They said that the dinner entrees were just as good without going to the surcharge choice dining areas, but that all were heavy on fish entree choices and not varied enough from day to day.

I just returned from the CP last Sunday. Had a wonderful time! The ship is beautiful (a destination in and of itself). Our little group of four ate late seating in the Island diningroom everynight and did not opt for Sterlings or Sabatini's restaurants. We enjoyed all our meals in the diningroom.
We had 3500 passengers on our sailing. That's because of the families that were on board. We used the adults only aft pool and never had a hard time finding a comfy lounge chair. You could move the chairs around to sun or shade, either one.
The Caribe deck has the largest balconies, if that is important to you. They are approximately 9 x 9, while the other decks have about 5 x 9 or maybe 6 x 9 balconies. Caribe deck balconies are partly open and partly covered by the balonies on Baja deck.
The itinerary we followed was the western Caribbean, which includes Princess Cays in the Bahamas, Jamaica, Grand Cayman, and Cozumel.
I think your teens would enjoy cruising on this ship as there would be lots of kids during spring break.
