Can I get Kosher food?
I am Jewish, and I only eat Kosher food. If I make a request (like on an airplane) will I always receive Kosher food?<BR><BR>What about on the Lido deck? I hope that I don't have to always be segregated to the dining room just because I want Kosher food.

HI,<BR><BR>I am not absolutely certain, but for some reason I believ that the Lido and all restaurants on ships will offer a Kosher menu. You could call the cruise line and ask about how they handle this issue. I know it sounds crazy, but I think you'll find that even in the Lido/open restaurant that there is some consideration for special diatery needs. <BR><BR>Happy Sails<BR><BR>Bill

Hi Gary,<BR><BR>I know that Kosher food can be requested. A travel agent can make the request at least two weeks before sailing.<BR><BR>I have no idea how they can accommodate you at the buffet. If they do, they might offer you a kosher hot dog and you would have to wait for it.<BR><BR>For your special dietary need I am almost positive you would have to eat all meals in the dining room.<BR><BR>Good luck,<BR><BR>Paul<BR><BR>

Some, not all, cruise lines offer kosher meals. Of course, they're the pre-packed frozen dinners we've all had on planes. Most lines offer vegetarian meals as well. With regard to being relegated to the dining room for Kosher food, I'd say that's pretty much a given. I don't know how liberal you are - but the lido deck buffets offer cereal and fruit for breakfast, and lots of salads and fruit for lunch. You might want to consider "Kosher Cruises" which are periodically advertised in many Jewish newspapers, etc. Good luck.

Also jewish but not kosher. Some cruise lines offer kosher meals in the dine room by pre-order. All have a fish option at dinner, usually with scales and fins but served filleted if that meets yr needs. Breakfast: Lido always has fruit/juice/pkg cereal and usually dannon yougert. Lunch: Lido has a great salad/fruit bar often including egg/tuna salad, often veg entrees avail if you don't care what was cooked in the pan last. Some lines also frequently have a veggie pasta available. Some lines the grill has veggie burgers but all cooked on same grill. In other words, it is possible to keep kosher, but easier if you are a moderate like my veggie daughters.

True story.<BR><BR>I walked into a bagel shop in Indianapolis and ordered a ham and swiss on a bagel.<BR><BR>The girl behind the counter was indignant. "Sir," she said. "This is a kosher bakery--we don't serve ham."<BR><BR>I said, "OK, then make it pastrami."<BR><BR>She said, "Would you like cheese on that?"<BR><BR>Cheers all!

Just got my docs for a HAL cruise. It says that kosher meals must be ordered before the cruise - since no ship has a kosher kitchen, they pre-order frozen meals, then deliver them to your table in the original packaging. Sounds a little grim to me...

Princess also serves frozen Kosher food. <BR><BR>Must be ordered in advance. <BR><BR>Nothing against Kosher but the frozen meal one of my tablemates ate didn't look appealing. The woman who ate it didn't really like it but loved cruising so she didn't complain.
