Big band cruise

I love to ballroom dance and have been on all the ships Paul mentions (except First European). Although I haven't been on the Big Band cruises, keep in mind that these ships have SMALL dance floors. The exception to that is the QE2, which has the biggest dance floor on the seas (and it's wood). The other ships have small, round/oval spaces that might be vinyl, marble, tile or wood. So, unless you're on the QE2, you won't have room to do more than basic Bronze I social steps - no routines or fancy steps! Even on the QE2, the floor is usually full so basic social steps are the best.

Hi QueenVee,

You're right, the dancefloors are all pretty small. The only time there is ample room is when they open up the stage in the main showroom. Passengers have been complaining about this for quite some time now but nothing ever changes.

Paul

As Holly mentioned Holland America will have a big band cruise on Nov. 11 on the Amsterdam leaving from Ft. Lauderdale. We are booked on it and it is now listed on their web site as sold out. However many organizations have blocked out groups of rooms and it's possible that they may not sell them all. You can call one of the organizations at 1-800 666 4988 and speak to Jan. The ship will feature the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra with Buddy Morrow as the leader.
