What lIne & exacly where from Ft. Lauderdale

We are in our mid 30's and are looking at am August Cruise. We have friends in Ft. lauderdale we would like to visit, so a cruise seems to fit in nice. We are first timers. We want to stay away from Kids on this trip. Second honeymoon for us. No Mexico ro Puerto Rico, been there. What advice do you have. We would like to be around people around our age if possible. If not, then OK, we can party with with anyone.
Thanks,Mark

Hi Mark,

Pretty difficult to get away from kids in August. All the upscale cruiselines which cater to adults (because of the price) are either in Alaska, Europe, the Med. and other exotic areas.

The only ship that would sail the eastern Caribbean in August is the Holland America Maasdam (round trip Ft. Lauderdale). There will be some children since the cruiseline is now becoming more family friendly (was old fogey). I would take a guess the children would be better behaved on a Holland America cruise.

The price should be fairly reasonable.

Paul

Look at Grand Princess - I believe it is alternating between East and West itinaries.

They limit the amount of kids on board - even during the summer.

I agree, look into the Grand Princess, did that twice and it is so big and has seperate areas for kids, didn't seem much of any and went over Memorial week and in July. People of ALL ages on that one. Have fun.

The Celebrity Century alternates the Eastern and Western Caribbean routes throughout the summer. We're going the Western Caribbean route this coming September. Looks like a good ship and I've heard some raving reviews on it!
