Who has brought wine in checked luggage on RCCL?

Okay, I've read the threads. I know the policy. Truth is, we looked at the wine choices on the Voyager and wanted to gag.Yes, we may be wine snobs. No, we don't always pay high prices, but the selections were strictly drugstore varieties. My wife and i want to bring aboard 4 bottles of our favs to enjoy before dinner and after. Has anyone stashed it in his luggage and been caught? NOT carry-on. This is a special trip for us, and we want to enjoy a couple special vintages. Thank you, Emil.

nevil 1

Maybe a snob of your caliber should be sailing on Crystal or Radisson...they have very nice wine lists.

Yoda knows where you can get a big bottle of really good stuff for only $13.

Hi Nevil,

RCCL will allow you to bring a bottle or two of fine wine in your carry-on to celebrate a special occasion. The special occasion can be your cruise.

Enjoy,

Paul

Thank you Paul for your answer.Bob, I found your response rude. I sailed before on RCCL and Carnival and had no complaints. I am only a "snob" in that I have traveled extensively in France, most of Europe and spent much time in California and NY wine country. My family was in the restaurant business. I do not like Mondavi Coastal Merlot or Mondavi Cab which they offer. I like a nice bottle of California Merlot , ZIn (red) and Petite Syrah. We have a nice selection which we've collected in our travels, and when we celebrate a special event, like to enjoy one. That's what life's all about! Does that make me a snob? PS- I will share the good stuff with those at my table!!

Hey nevil1, you're the one who said you were a wine snob, not me. Hope you choose your wines with more taste than you do your words.

How about "wine connoisseur?" Of course, even if you used that term, Bob would have probably made some snide remark.

linda

A "wine connoisseur" would not be familiar with the "varieties" sold in a "drugstore". A decent person would not say things like, "..we looked at the wine choices on the Voyager and wanted to gag. Yes, we may be wine snobs." This is rude, arrogant and ignorant behavoir and you look equally moronic defending him. If he wants to bring a nice wine on board, in a suitcase, then just do it, without all the put downs and arrogance.

Yoda

Nevil1 is a little confued as to what he wants to do with this wine. Maybe because he was sampling a little too much of it when he wrote these notes. heehee

Didn't mean to start a hissy contest. I ASSUMED it wasn't allowed, period. Paul says we can for special occasion (it is) so we CAN have it at table instead of hiding it in our room and we WILL share it with tablemates.

We always pack 4-6 bottles of California wine in our checked baggage, buble-wrapped and double-bagged in ZipLok bags. We have never had a problem with RCI, Princess or Celebrity. Sometimes we drink it in our room, and sometimes we pay corkage fee in dining room. We're not connie-sewers, either.
