Best cruise at Christmas time???
Hi there,
we are looking at a trip to the US next Dec/Jan.
We have been many times before but are thinking of doing a cruise over the Christmas period before we start our trip.
What are your suggestions?
We are looking for itineries.
We have been on Celebrity twice and once on Holland America.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Is anyone doing a Christmas cruise this year.
We prefer to only have 1 or 2 days at sea.
Thanks
Donna

Dec. 18th we are going on our third Christmas cruise. The first one, San Diego-San Diego with the Holland America Mexican Riviera. Last year Celebrity LA-Hawaii-LA. Those two we took our whole family. This year we are doing Princess with another couple LA-Hawaii-LA. We chose the last two because they both have so many "at sea" days. Holland America REALLy dolled up the ship with decorations, the dining room absolutely gorgeous. Celebrity was down a step or two from that and was not as festive, but still nice. Last year we also had loads of children and families. We have been on Diamond Princess in AU/NZ and liked the ship so much, we decided to give it a try.

Southern Caribbean is ideal - warmer waters and Xmassy (beach on Xmas Day).
Remember the sea is too cool in northern Caribbean in Dec/Jan, particularily the Bahamas. The sea is lovely in Tortola/St.Thomas and southern than that.

Hi Lordy,
I will be leaving for my 6th Christmas cruise now in 20 days. I love travelling at Christmas since the ship is all decked out in decorations.
Please note that the Christmas cruise is usually higher in price. Just wanted to point that out.
Your best bet is too leave out of San Juan port. The weather could be dicey leaving out of Florida. I have been in the Bahamas one Xmas and it was cold. You can bet the weather south of San Juan will usually be high 80's to mid 90's at that time with usually a light sprinkle maybe once a day. That did happen last year.
Have Fun,
kari
p.s. we are travelling on Royal Caribbean

Dear Kari,
What is your itinerary?
It sounds like you really enjoy cruising at Christmas time.
We enjoy cruising and thought it would be good to combine a trip and cruise while in the US.
We have been on an Alaskan, Mediterranean, Asian and British Isles / Ireland cruise. All have been in the Summer months.
We have our major holiday break in Dec / Jan, so this is hte best time to travel without taking special leave.
What are your favourite ports to vist?
Look forward to your reply

Hi Donna,
I apologize for not seeing the post until now. I am trying to put out my stuff for the cruise this weekend and any other stuff that I have to do.
This year our itinierary is 9 days 8 nights. We go to St Thomas, St Lucia, Barbados, St Maarten, Antigua. This cruise is usually 8 days 7 nights so I am not sure why they deviated but I love it.
Favorite ports are Barbados and St Maarten. We usually just head to the beach where the kids play volleyball or body surf.
Hope this helps,
kari
