Baltic cruise - how cold is it?

We are planning on a Baltic cruise next summer (2009) in July or August. How cold is it on board the ship and on land? Can one use the pool on the ship? Going on the Emerald Princess. Thanks for the help.

I can't speak for those mos. but we did go in mid June. I didn't see too many people in the pool. Hot tubs, yes. As for land we had only one bad day and that was in Helsinki. It was cool and rainy. We really didn't enjoy ourselves much that day. Otherwise the temps were moderate. A light jacket was needed some days but no more than that really. I am not sure about sunset then. For us it was optimally bright as we ended our cruise June 21, the longest day of the yr. Percy where are you? I think he went in one of those mos., aug. IIRC. You will really enjoy the Baltic. BTW times change a few times as you go from port to port so be aware of that. The ships personnel will let you know this and it will be in the Princess patter. Cheers, Larry

It will be cool at sea and if there is a wind (which we had for two days) it can be very chilly on the ship. When the sun was out it was very warm but the evening cooled off. A light sweater. long sleeve shirt, and good wind breaker will be necessary.

Our Baltic cruise was during the 2003 European heat wave, and it was dreadfully hot at every port.

In my (limited to 8 cruises) experience, the dining rooms and theaters aboard ships tend to be chilly.

Hi jacketwatch!

davidjac
Yes I agree with jacketwatch, it can and will be chilly.

You can use the hot tub pool but the main pool may not be that active.

That is not to say you are freezing, just that it could be chilly for a nice warm pool day.

And you could have some very windy days at sea.

I went August 16 to August 31 from Copenhagen last year.... I was lucky , I had good weather at all the ports...a light drizzle rain in Gdansk Poland that lasted about an hour..then a full sunny day.

You will like this cruise.
I enjoyed it better than the Mediterranean Cruise I took several months before.
