a small kid nearly drowned on Disney Fantasy ship

A 4-year old boy nearly drowned at one of the swimming pools on board Disney Cruises Fantasy ship http://www.shipcruise.org/disney/367...erary-schedule The cruise passenger incident happened on March 30, 2013, while Disney Fantasy was docked in Port Canaveral, Florida, just before sailing on a 7-night Western Caribbean itinerary (the scheduled departure was delayed some 45 minutes)

Where were his parents? If they left a small child alone, they could be sued for neglect.

I have a 4 year old granddaughter, and I can't imagine any of the adults in her life allowing her in a pool without an adult being (literally) within arms length.

there's an update in the above article on the Fantasy incident - the little boy may have brain damage... it's so sad, this was a cruise after all! And, Dayenu, you're absolutely right to blame the parents for this! It's a huge responsibility to have kids in our times, in this crazy world.

I looked up an article about this and the child was found in a pool 5'3" deep. The parents were horrified when they saw resuscitation being performed on their own child. It does appear there is significant brain damage. I don't know how this came to happen but if this was me I would suffer every day for the rest of my life.

All it takes is one unguarded moment. My thoughts are with the boy and his family.
