has anyone taken this 2 day cruise. it leaves from vncouver and sails into Sf. thought it would be a nice get-away for hubby. Can get a mini suite for 655 or balcony stateroom for 555. Of course we would have to fly to Canada but think $1000 is not too bad for a nice weekend with all food and relaxation. Anyone?

Have not done this cruise but if it is only 2 nights that means only 1 day at sea!

That seems an awful lot of money for 2 days... please give more details. I was on a short 3-night cruise from San Diego to Vancouver this May and it got very rough past San Francisco, so having a verandah (balcony) wasn't necessary as it was too windy to use. I do love Vancouver and think it's a great city to explore for a few days, as is San Francisco. However, just to fly in for such a short cruise and fly home, would leave me wanting so much more.

Why bother? Vanccouver is a great place to visit. Fly there and skip the embarkation, disembarkation and have a great time.

We took RT from San Francisco to Alaska and back, 2 days at sea each way.

2 days - does it mean, you sail away at 5 pm, have one full day at sea, arrive early? Do you think one full day only is enough for relaxation?

If you live in the SF area and don't have to fly anywhere after it would be a nice little break. Traditionally the Vancouver to SF are two days at sea. I know HAL does one with a short stop in Astoria. We used to take the first leg of a repositioning cruise Vancouver to LA just for a little getaway. As Andeesue points out paying for a verandah is probably a waste because you really can't sit out all that easily in those waters - very windy and cool. I say go for it sometimes a little cruise like that when you are away from it all does as much good as a longer one. Rather than spend the money on a verandah come to Vancouver a day early and enjoy the city. Have fun whatever you do.

thanks for the tips especially on the balcony. Didn't think about the weather part. Still thinking about it as it would be a nice get away. no driving, no cooking, perhaps a massage and just relaxing. Can't go to the wine country for less than that. We do live in SF so docking at home is a plus....still thinking about it....

I've been looking at those cruises, thinking "why can't they schedule them so we can make a short round-trip?" It would be great just to do nothing for a change!

Is it like 2 day cruises in Australia. You get on late so there really isn't a first day, have a day sailing or just sitting in the harbour, and the last day you get off early. So you've had one day.

I just took the reverse cruise from SF to VAN in May2012.
We had a great time on the ship...very relaxing getaway. Movies under the Stars...nice spa....surprisingly good food for 2 night cruise. I recommend booking an ocean view cabin rather than veranda and saving yourself $$ as you will not use the balcony at sea ...too chilly and windy. Be sure to spend some time in Vancouver ...Grandville Island and Stanley Park were most enjoyable. Try taking WestJet non stop SFO to Vancouver as low as $139...really nice airline. We stayed in Van at the Sandman Suites on Davies...great, colorful little neighborhood with dozens of ethnic restaurants
