Young Island or Couples Swept Away

I love Young Island. We were married there. Spent ten days, part of which was sailing the Tobago Cays for three days with a captain and cook. It was wonderful and just writing a few words about it makes me long to go back. I loved the seclusion, the individual cottages,the food. Too many people go to Jamaica for my liking. I prefer secluded resorts, and if they're difficult to reach, all the better. But different strokes for different folks. To the original poster: like previous posters have said, it's your honeymoon so wherever you go, it will be romantic and wonderful. Since Swept Away has many positive reviews, you can't go wrong whichever you choose. Enjoy, and let us know what you decide.

East of Port Antonio there are several really nice - though mostly small - beaches.
The big exception to "small" is Long Bay - it's a mile long lined with palm trees and a guest house or two, that's it. Many days it has waves (you can rent surfboards), it was calm when we were there.

There is also San San Beach, private to a few villas and small hotels, Boston Beach - home of jerk cooking in Jamaica they say, that's public so free, also can have waves but not always, great food and nice water/sand.
There's Winnifred Beach - I haven't been, it's also public. There's Frenchman's Cove, really lovely natural beach with a clear stream that meets the bay there, about $10 to go, Blue Lagoon - not really a beach but a 200 ft deep lagoon of the most striking blue-green hues (yes the same one as the movie), and many unnamed but lovely and mainly deserted beaches.
It is useful to have a car there, unless you stay on Long Bay, which they say is a lot like Negril in the 60's, before all the hotels came.
There are also many, many waterfalls, caves, gardens, rainforest hikes and such to do in that area, and the lush Blue Mountains are right behind all of these beaches.
