Which place to stay on Anguilla?
Rendezvous Bay Resort, Shoal Bay Beach Hotel and La Sirena all fit into my budget for my trip this summer. Which one is the best? They all seem like decent places in good locations. If you have stayed at both or all three, which one would you return to?<BR>Thanks!

Was in Anguilla a few years ago and La Sirena looked pretty dumpy and Shoal Bay wasn't my cup of tea ... if your looking for an inexpensive place you can try the Carimar Beach Club (Is on the best beach and close to some great restaurants)or the Sonesta has a nice set up there. You can get some deals in the summer I'm sure.

Recent comments about all three on Carribean on line, I have not stayed at any of the three, but you are correct that they are all on nice beaches. I can also tell you that The Sonesta is closed. No matter where you stay the beaches, and people on the island are the best!

The Sonesta has been closed for quite some time now. The Rendezvous Bah Hotel is very nice...so is their Restaurant, Cedar Grove which is getting rave reviews and great prices too. another helpful website is travelhop.com, and Bob Green's Anguilla news website, iloveanguilla.com - listing of everything Anguilla. The people are great and the beaches beautiful, you cannot miss on this tropical paradise, no matter where you stay!

We stayed at the Carimar Beach Club for a week in October 2001 and absolutely loved it. It is directly on Meads Bay, which I think is one of the best beaches on the island. Each of the units has a fully-equipped kitchen, so you can have meals in to save some $$$. The rooms are beautifully appointed, although no ac. Ceiling fans galore and you can get an ac unit for a bedroom, which makes things a bit more comfortable at night - especially if you get too much sun. A small grocery store is about a 15 minute walk (up a hill) and there is a fantastic BBQ place just across the street from the store. No televisions in the individual units, but who needs one? Nice size patios with table for dining as well as chaise lounges for just relaxing. I would suggest you rent a car for a few days (reception desk can help you with that) and explore the island. We love Anguilla. Oh yeah, for a nice romantic dinner out, try Altamer. Very $$$$$ but worth it.
