Trying to choose between Virgin Gorda and Anguilla
Hubby and I would like to plan a trip for February, 2009. We have never been to Virgin Gorda and Anguilla.
Can anyone give me the pros and cons of each island. If you have been to both islands, which did you like better? Thanks!

Virgin Gorda is great for snorkeling amoung the huge boulders.
Anguilla is great for its outstanding beaches(absolutely stunning), and a huge variety of very good restaurants.
VG is very quiet and remote. Anguilla is a little more upscale. Both are hard to get to. Neither have any shopping so to speak.
We prefer Anguilla, but both are good to visit.

We love both but have not been to Anguilla since 1998.
Anguilla - Amazing beaches and the color of the water and sand is spectacular. Many high end resorts and few mid range resorts. Some of the best restaurants in the Caribbean. The best food/desserts we've had has been on Anguilla. And we work in NYC so we know good restaurants. Laid back vibe. Interior scrubby/dry. Expensive.
Virgin Gorda - Very laid back and Quaint. An anti-crowd sort of destination. Nice beaches but Anguilla definately has the edge when it comes to beaches. Not as many beaches as on Anguilla. The baths - rock formation/boulders on the beach which is quite a spectacular sight. Good snorkelling. Some ok restaurants but nothing like Anguilla. The topography is prettier/hilly hence nice views. Couple nice resorts including Little Dix and Biras Creek.

VG is hilly and lush. Anguilla is drier and flat, but the beaches are exquisite, the food is better, and the locals are friendlier. Because AXA is so dry, I really appreciate people's gardens. No shopping in either. St Martin is a 20 minute ferry ride from AXA.
