There was a huge problem of stray dogs in the Northern Dominican Republic, I just noticed a few weeks ago those are like 90% gone. There is various organizations that worked with dogs for years and now I feel their work has been quiet effective. Kudos to them

We recently went to St. Lucia and the island was overrun with stay dogs and feral cats. We worked with a shelter one day and have been trying to bring 2 dogs back from there ever since but it is challenging. They have two great rescue organizations completely funded and staffed by volunteers, the government offers no help. The Lucians consider the animals pests and don't hesitate to be cruel, they will overlook an emaciated animal dying in a parking lot. Do not support this island with tourism until their government listens to us (I have written letters)and spays/neuters to resolve the problem rather than shooting dogs on the beach and laying out poison.
