Most of the islands have pretty shades of blue and green.
But I was in Culebra and the water there sparkled like I never saw water sparkle before. It was like looking at diamomds!!!!!

Not in the Caribbean of course... but the most beautiful water I have ever seen, hands down, off the coast of Thailand...the Phi Phi Islands, specifically Phi Phi Don, Phi Phi Lei, and Monkey Island... breathtaking !

There is a location---mostly locals go on st john virgin islands---that i will share with you. I will get hate responses for divulging.

Its Jumbie Bay on north shore roda.

It has a strange yet chilling and overwhelming experience at morning sunrise and eveing sunset...

The blue water at this site has a mesmerizing quality that i, frankly, scares me sometimes.

There are ghosts there I'm sure---but the blue color defies explanation sometimes...

Turks & Caicos hands down! There are hundreds of shades of turquoise and even the clouds have a hint of blue!

The whole Bahamian archipelgo, from Northern Abaco to Great Iguana island in the south. No mountains, soil erosion and rivers streaming into the waters, just coral rock/limestone formations raised slightly above sea level. Scuba diving vis is over 100 feet. Gin-colored waters sprinkled with turqoise, lime-green, dark blue atop a shallow white sandy bottom make an impressive color collage. Robert59

I voted for Eleuthera in 06. My how a yr can change things. Upon last and voted on final visit for a while. Way too much trash along the beaches and in the water. Stoves and other household goods litter the shoreline now. Can't figure if rubish is from residents or passing vessels in the water. Of course stoves don't float! Now my vote is for CAYMAN! Strong Gov't who enforce the protection of thier waters.

Guys,
Does the season of the year play a role in the water color or clarity? I would hate to get there only to find out I picked the worst month for water "blueness".
Thanks.

I have been in Anguilla during all four seasons. There are always about 20 shades of blue in the water.
Turks and Caicos and the Bahamas are tied for number 2
Grand Cayman and Virgin Gorda had lovely beaches, but the water had more of a greenish tinge than true blue.
Macaroni Beach on Mustique also had really nice shades of blue water.
If the water is choppy, it does affect clarity, but the current and storms can be choppy at any time. In Anguilla, I have experienced that most during November-December
