Where Would You Go If....

You wanted to spend five days at an all inclusive in the Caribbean? We are eight women who went to high school together and want to celebrate turning 50 next year. We always take a long weekend in mid July. Our trips are on the East coast but this time we want something special. Recommendations?

My last trip with my friends before I got married was to Cancun. IS A GREAT PLACE!!! If you are looking maybe for another location you can try looking at Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico or even St. Thomas. The Ritz-Carlton in StThomas is beautifull and my last trip before married with only my friends where there and we had a fabulous time. Depends on what you want girls... if it is beach, casino, party, cause there is always Las Vegas.

I suggested Cancun as I've been there at least 6 times. They don't want to go there. Then I suggested Las Vegas, they don't want to go there either. So far, I've looked at The Buccaneer in DR.

The best selection I have found have been in Mexico. I would agree wtih Cancun or it that is a little too busy for you, my favorite place (which is about an hour out) Playa Del Carmen. Is a great town, plenty of restaurants, shops, music. You can catch the ferry over to Cozumel. You can explore the Mayan ruins and there are two great ecological type parks, Xel-ha and Xpu ha, where you can snorkel, go tubing, or lounge. Xpu-ha also have shows that reflect the Mayan people and culture.

As a second thought, have you thought about doing a cruise?

chasechow - We all decided that a cruise was not an option. We like to be able to walk to the beach and don't want the be confined on a ship. We have all taken cruises seperately and have no desire to do so again.

Thanks for your input.

Bermuda is a beautiful island. Most places have a meal plan with breakfast and dinner included. There is a cute town for shopping. There is good snorkeling and it is safe to ride public transportation.

Aruba has nice beaches, gambling and great restaurants. I would not recommend an all inclusive there because of it's great food.

Grand Cayman is known for it's nice beaches and we are taking a trip there next year.

I am not as familiar with all inclusive places. A friend of mine stayed at the Wyndam Sugar Bay (all inclusive)in St. Thomas last spring break. She said the food was good. The hotel was nice and she was pleasantly surprised. There is great shopping on St. Thomas and you can take all kinds of boat tours to St. John and the British Virgin Islands.

We thought Bermuda would be an excellent choice but from what I hear, it's very expensive.

Grand Cayman looks like a nice possibility as well.

Is anyone familiar with the Club Med resorts?

I have a suggestion - why not rent a fully staffed villa in Jamaica. This sounds perfect for your group. Yhttp://www.jamaicavillas.com/ou can check out villas at this site.
