What are your suggestions?

We are planning a trip to the caribbean in the fall. It will be my husband and I and our two (2.5 yars and almost 4 yrs) kids. We are active but won't expect to do too much with two little ones. We would like active options, some history and plenty of fun things for little ones. Also, we want some place that is going to be on the beach and with a pool. I'd like to spend under $400 or so a night. What island or area do you suggest?

Thank you!

Sarah

Can you narrow it down a bit more? Almost every island can fit all or most of the criteria laid out. Do you have any islands in mind at the moment? Also, with the little ones, traveling logistics come into play. Where are you flying from?

When you said 'history' I immediately thought Puerto Rico. Old San Juan?

Marbleheadguy,

I'm assuming you are from Marblehead, MA...my neck of the woods and one of my favorite towns.

I'm trying not to be political, or the thread will be deleted.

Could you just explain why going to a US territory would mean that one is "protected" ?

Such great help already!

I like to do a little exploring wherever we go, not just stay at a resort. That is what I meant by history, exploring the culture a bit.

Also, I am flying from CT/NYC so would prefer somewhere with non-stop flights.

Thanks again!

I would start with Aruba. Plenty of kid friendly hotels, great dining.
