Wedding Location suggestions
My son and his fiance are hoping for a May wedding in the Carribean...leaning towards Aruba. 20-25 people.
Do resorts offer package deals for weddings, special rates?
Any great recommendations?

Check out The Somerset resort on Turks and Caicos. www.thesomerset.com They have info on weddings on the website.
My sister was just checking it out -we stayed next door this summer.
We saw a wedding there this summer on the beach. They then moved to the lawn overlooking the beach for drinks then to the courtyard for dinner, dancing etc...we watched a lot of it!!

do they have an attachment to aruba? i ask as almost all resorts on all islands can arrange a wedding and aruba is a long flight unless you all fly from the southern US.
i've attended a wedding at wyndham sugar bay on st. thomas that was lovely. their co-ordinator took care of everything - bride and her mother were happy. a quieter spot on st. t is secret harbour - very nice!
be sure to tell ds and fiance to check marraige requirements on given islands.
i think you might need more than 25 ppl to get any group hotel rates unless you book air and resort through a travel agent and everybody uses her.
i haven't been on aruba so i can't help with specifics there.
a bit more info on what people might like to do will help us help you. (casinos, golf, shopping, busy or quiet, if lush is important - trees not cocktails, zip-lines, snorkel/dive, etc)

We travel to Bermuda annually and many couples from the states get married there.

You might want to check out the logistics of marrying elsewhere - eg licenses, etc. I'm sure each island/country has its own rules. Friends got married on St. Lucia, which required them to be there several days before the wedding to apply for license then wait until approved, etc. Also, there might be different health forms you might need and their timing might influence your decision.
Their wedding was lovely and Anse Chastenet did a wonderful job arranging for everything for the actual ceremony. They did have to do some travelling around to givernment offices in the days before the wedding.

You may review Montepelier Plantation Inn on the island of Nevis in the Federation of St. Kitts/Nevis. They have wedding packages, a great restaurant with a seperate location in the 18th century Sugar Mill. Visit the web site a montepliernevis.com to see if you like or call them at 1 869 469 3462 and speak with Meredith who is one of the Owners.

Have you considered Jamaica? It's typically cheaper than many of the other islands and has a spectacular almost seven mile white sand beach in Negril ( about a 90 min drive from Montego Bay airport). We've been going there for 25+ years, and have seen many small weddings on the beach at sunset. I can't think of a more beautiful location! My guess is that most of the hotels there supply wedding coordinators. Many if not all of them have restaurants on site, or, since it's such a small group, you might be able to have your reception at one of the cliffside restaurants. Definitely ask for info from IDLE AWHILE, a small, intimate resort with very nice rooms on the best part of the beach. You could also check out ROCKHOUSE, a hotel/restaurant with private cottages on the cliffs, but that will likely be more expensive. Good luck!

I think Bermuda is one of the prettiest islands that I have been to.
Aruba is windy. So, if they are marrying on the beach, bride will need to have hair under control.
I think Aruba can offer deals. I would definitely contact some resorts to see what they can do for you and your guests. There is a huge Marriott there and a very pretty, but more compact Hyatt. I think Aruba appeals to many because it has good dining and some nightlife with very nice beaches.
Other than that, it is a desert in the ocean. Of course the resorts are plush and the dry weather is great for having a less rainy vacation.
I would just start contacting resorts to see what they can do on different islands. This will give you and idea for cost.
good luck!

I agree that Bermuda is beautiful and full of good restaurants, but in May the weather can be hard to predict. We've visited twice. Once we had perfect weather. The second time it was cold and windy- at the end of May! That's why I'd recommend going farther south to one of the Caribbean islands.

The Caribbean is a wonderful place to get married. The tropical greenery and beaches are beautiful and make great pictures.
Make sure you check the regulations on the different islands. My husband and I were a matron of honor and best man at a wedding in St Lucia and the bride and groom ran into a lot of problems.
Many resorts offer a wedding service on their property with ceremonies under an arbor on the beach. Since your son has a number of people going with, I would consider the assistance of a local Wedding Organiser. These people can provide anything you want from a venue,to cakes and flowers.
For ideas look at Weddings section on each island.
I personally think Nevis would be postcard perfect.
