weather in the caribbean in December?
What's the weather like in December in the caribbean? My husband and I would like to go for a week then.
Are some islands warmer than others?
Are there winter storms then?
When we lived in Hawaii, December to March was the time we got winter storms and not the best time to come even though it was a high tourist season.

You can check average monthly temperatures for any island by clicking on the Caribbean link at:
www.weatherbase.com
Generally speaking at any given time of the year there's probably only a 5 degree F. difference in average temperature between the northern Caribbean islands and the more southerly ones.
As Carrybean said, winter in the Bahamas (not technically in the Caribbean) can be on the cool side.

We've gone to the Caribbean in December a couple of times (Anguilla and Tortola) and have run into what the locals called "Christmas winds." This often made the ocean rough and the beach unpleasant to be on. After that, we started going in February - March. Once you have an idea where you would like to go, check and see if they experience these "Christmas winds".

We went to Jamaica the 1st week of January last year and had rain 6 of 7 days. Sat- Wed the wind was so strong that Sandals couldn't offer any watersports. Warm temps still with upper 70's but the winds were very strong all week. Murphy's law for us I guess.
