We have been to Sandals twice and had a very good time. Located on the best beach in Antigua, many pools, great spa, love the swim up bar, good cuisine. Plenty of friendly vendors. We asked J.J. at the taxi station in the parking lot when he had free time to take us on a personal tour of the island--Nelsons Dockyard, English Harbor (yachts are unbelievable), an old sugar mill, Devils Bridge and to see the beach at Pineapple Beach Club. Sunday at Shirley Heights for that fantastic view and music atop the mountain. All day cruise to Barbuda etc. Not much help outside of Sandals. On our second visit there were a few problems hope they have resolved them. My husband's coworker stayed at Blue Waters and he said he had a great time.

Just spent a week at Sandals.....Resort was great. Landscaping was beautiful!! We booked Grande Luxe and were upgraded to the Luxury Concierge rooms on the bluff. Room was incredible, large and beautifully decorated.

Food was very good. OK Corral was our favorite. Shrimp, Lobster and Filet Mignon on the barbecue!! Il Palio was my second favorite, the fish of the day was Red Snapper and I can say it was the best fish I ever had!

We also bookd the sunset cruise through the hotel. This was great! 30 foot sailboat with our own private party of 4. What a great time.

Favorite bar drink was a frozen one called the Banana Sip-Sop, try it-you won't be disappointed.

Service was outstanding....people were so friendly and accomodating!

I have been to seven different islands and this was truly a treat. Look forward to returning some day!

Agree with the Sip Sop - awesome drink! And Shirely Heights on Sunday is great fun!

Aviod Prickley Pear island - not really worthe the trip.

If you walk to the far end of the beach (right if back to the water) and up the small hill, there is a great view. Snorkeling was good - tons of fish but coral lost its color from all the storms. Jet skiing is excellent - nice and calm - just bargin the price.

You mention getting a room upgrade? Any tips on the best way to go about that? We also have the Grandeluxe booked for October!

Hi Joe. I am having my weddingmoon at Sandals Antigua in October. When will you be there? We have also booked the Grandluxe...I have heard the best way to get a room upgrade is to have your travel agent (if you booked through one) e-mail them ahead of time to request an upgrade. Most likely if they are not fully booked (this is the down season) they will upgrade you.

We did not ask for an upgrade...they gave it automatically. We were brought to a bluff...large room, far away from beach. Did not have concierge service. Most fun happens in the main pool...be sure to join in; it was fun. Book your dinner reservations on your way to breakfast and you will never have a problem getting what you want. I agree with the posts above about the lobster at OK Corral. Do not hesitate to ask for 2, not 1, lobster tails. You can have as much of anything you want, even more than 1 entree or appetizer. Any specific questions I can answer?

See if the bartenders know how to make a Hummingbird...great drink and very popular at Sandals Negril Jamaica. In case they don't here is the way to do it:

crushed ice
2 shots Rum Cream (MUST be rum cream for best flavor, but in pinch you can use Bailey's Irish Cream)
2 shots Tia Maria (or any coffee flavored liqour, Tia Maria is best)
2 shots strawberry syrup
1 shot mile
1/2 ripe banana

blend well, pour into glass, drink with straw. This makes one drink.

Tasty, easy to drink, and caution!!! may slip up on you, lots of booze in one. Great drink to sip on the beach

Hey, there is an auction on skyauction.com right now for Sandals Antigua. It's a bid per night auction and the current bid is only $1. The auction ends tomorrow. I think you can travel anytime between now and 12/30/01. It doesn't say that Christmas is blacked out either.

There is really no rhyme or reason to Sandals ungrades. WE have been 7 times and upgraded half. Best bet is to have your travel agent request one, you too can fax in a request and ask again when you get there. What ever category, do request an upper floor room for the views as the gardens are so beautiful, especially in the morning and at sunset when everything is quiet. Bluffs room, like Kim said, is the best location if you can get that one. Very private.
