Want tropical vacation - no hurricane

Hi - Not a meterologist and have no idea what places are more hurricane prone than others - can anyone recommend a good vacation place in the mid-late August time frame? Have limited time between semesters so August is it - want a beach, have 5-6 days.

Thanks in advance!!!!

Go far south, out of the hurricane"belt". Try Aruba, Bonaire, Curacao, Margarita, maybe Trinidad or tobago. There are never any guarantees, but the further north you go the greater the probablility of running into a big wind.

Aruba is your best bet. 2 hurricanes in the past 100 years, I believe.
Great beach, very safe, easy to adapt to the lifestyle there.

Hi Jennifer. I believe Barbados is also a bit out of the hurricane belt since it is the easternmost Caribbean island and also quite far south as well. Assuming you are in the U.S. it's also easy to get to, an important consideration when you have limited time. Aruba and the other "ABC islands" (Bonaire and Curacao) would also be good choices.
