Hi Lisa: I am going to Antigua and trying to decide where to stay. I was considering Curtain Bluff but unsure. Can you elaborate on what you didn't like about the layout or atmosphere -- this would be very helpful as it is pricey so I want to be sure. Thanks

Hi,

I found the atmosphere to be very stuffy. We met the owner, who took us on a tour of the property, and I found him to be arrogant and smug. He also spoke poorly of other propery owners and I thought it was really unprofessional. We also did not like the beach. It is away from the rooms with dark sand and not very scenic. The restaurant where dinner is served is not on the water and claustaphobic. Also, children are allowed during all times of the year, which doesn't work for us. This being said, I know that some guests have gone annualy for 20+ years and just love the place! It just isn't for us. . . hope this helps! Lisa.

Curtain Bluff actually has 2 beaches, the bay side and the ocean side. One calmer, and one with more surf. They are both beautiful and in particular the bay side is one of the best in Antigua.

The owners have a reputation of being warm and inviting. In fact, the owners weekly cockatil party held in their own suite is one of the reasons people return many years in a row

We had a wonderful time at Curtain bluff last year & are going back to hold our son's wedding there next year. The owners weren't a bit stuffy & we were made to feel very welcome. Food was great & beach lovely with plenty of unbrellas & sunbeds.

Lisa, it's too bad you never stayed at Curtain Bluff. I just came back and loved it. The owners were very friendly and warm, the restaurant is lovely and the beach was peaceful and calm. I am depressed being back after being spoiled for the week!

I also suggest you look at Hermitage Bay. We went the last November. It was our favorite vacation to date.
