The Truth about USVI Weather

I can't seem to understand USVI weather. Different weather sites have different forcasts for the week of 6/9/2003.
How is the weather in general during June? When it rains, does lst long?

Thanks

Have you checked www.caribwx.com? It's a BVI (10 miles away) weather station which provides not only forecasts but general climatological data.

In general, June weather is fine, barring a tropical wave. You'll have rain every day, mostly overnight but during the day as well, but almost always in short intense bursts of a few minutes. Nothing to prevent outdoor activities.

just got back from a week in St Thomas. May 26 thru June 2. Not a drop of rain. daytime highs approaching 90 and high humidity. last two days were not as humid but still 88-90. nighttime lows 78-80.

It's really not confusing if you realize that we are teeny little spots in the geographical forum. If there is an incoming tropical wave or hurricane, we know about it in plenty of time because these conditions encompass a wide area. Otherwise our weather reports ALWAYS advise, "20% chance of rain" which mean the normal likelihood of a quick passing shower which is hardly noticeable.
For instance, you can be driving down the road, a shower will hit you and then right down the road everything is dry with a distinct line of demarcation! Same when you're out sailing and you can easily change course and miss a brief downpour. THAT's the truth and hope it helps!
