temps in jan, feb

HI,
I was wondering if anyone know if the posted 76* in riviera maya in feb is acurate? Were looking for school break week. My husband is afraid it will be too cold. Were coming from Mass, 76* seems like a heat wave to me compared to 10*......

Weve been to Beaches, T&C and the Divi, Aruba, We loved both. He said no to Jamaica and Puerto Rico. Cant get air to Paradise Island without flying for 8 hrs-
We dont mind paying more for convienience (non stop)
and have a bunch of AA miles.

Caymens look nice but kids like the hoopla of AI.
I love St.John but I keep reading bad reviews of the Westin.
Anyone been to Costa Rica?

My husband dives, 1 of the kids and I snorkel, 9 yr old will
dig swim, likes pools too....wants to swim w/ dolphins.

any help appr-
geri

Have you thought about the Wyndham on St. Thomas? It's an AI and you could still do daytrips to St. John and the British Virgin Islands. It's hard to beat for snorkeling and diving. I think AA flies direct to St. Thomas from Boston as well as other cities on the east coast. The temperatures during January and February tend to be around 78 degrees. We're from Connecticut and we always think that's sweltering too. The locals start looking for their long sleeve clothing.

We were in Akumal Feb. 4-13 and found the temps. to be a bit cooler than we had experienced elsewhere in the Caribbean.

Needed sweaters (which of course we didn't bring with us) in the evenings and early in the mornings.

However, I had some lengthy snorkeling sessions and although the water felt cool at first, I did not get cold after an hour or more in the water.

It was certainly a lot warmer than where we live, on the edge of the Adirondacks, but we agreed that we would probably not choose the Yucatan again in Jan. or Feb.

Admittedly, we like it HOT.

Here is a website that will give you recorded historical weather averages for each month of the year for this area of Mexico. It will give you an idea of what to expect in the way of temperatures, rainfall, etc. for the month you are interested in travelling. If it doesn't link, just block, copy and paste in address window. Hope this helps.
