Would it be better to rent a car for a 5 day stay at the Wyndham El Conquistador or take a taxi from the airport. Is anything close enough to get out from the hotel or do they offer tours etc.?

The nearest town is Fajardo - It is not within walking distance. The hotel will offer tours to popular places - Rain Forest, Caves. If you like to do things on your own rent a car. A car might even be cost effective when you factor in taxi transportation to and from the hotel and the cost of tours you think you might want to take.

The Conquistador offer an airport/hotel tranfer service for a fee. Anlso renting a care is a good alternative. A taxi can run over $70 US.

Stayed at the Conquistador several years ago. Great resort, especially loved their exclusive island. But I wouldn't say there's much to do around the resort unless your going to go back to the Rain Forest or the capital. The resort does offer (expensive) tours. We preferred to bring our own car, but we were on the island for 2 weeks. <BR><BR>It doesn't look like you'll be at the resort long enough to enjoy all they have and explore the island much. It really depends on what your looking for.

Thanks for all your responses. I rented a car for the duration of our trip. It will be about $300 after all the taxes,etc. but I figured the cost of transportation to and from the hotel along with sightseeing and figured it might be a wiser choice. Thank you.
