Suggestions at $200/night or less?
Hello,
Can someone please suggest a nice, clean hotel, with a nice pool and near a nice part of the beach/ocean, anywhere in the Caribbean or Mexico, for $200 US/night or less?
Besides that we don't need much - doesn't have to be an all-inclusive, but food should be accesible and decent. Just a nice, clean place that's easy for relaxing - for about one week in January.
Thank you,
Susan

Than you Virginia and Ladystack - they both look like good options.
Virginia - do you know if a standard room is decent? All others are booked, and many reviews say to go for the Superior room.
Ladystack - do you know what people do for eating - are there places close by?
Thank you both,
Susan

susan, it is my best friend who stayed there. note - she went with out me. i'll talk to her in the am and ask. i suspect she got the standard room as she was on a budget trip.
at either place you will likely be outdoors most of the time anyway.
at abr the prices are fairly close for the different rooms so i assume many would opt for the upgrade if possible. will they let you wait list the superior room?

ok i called. she did have the standard room and did get to see a superior room. she said the main difference is size. all rooms have deck. she was in a building behind another and said that as they had a 2nd story room they had a nice view of the ocean. she said all rooms seemed clean, as did the rest of the resort.
hope this helps.

There are small restaurants closeby, a small kitchenette in room which as we prefer to make breakfast ourselves; but it is best to rent a car and drive a short distance to Falmouth Harbour. Easy, flat drive....much better restaurants and a great area to spend an evening...historical ruins, great yacht harbor, lively bars, etc.

Try Serendip Vacation Condos in Cruz Bay, Saint John USVI. Nice units sleep four, full-size kitchen. mountaintop ocean view, AC, wireless. I hear it now has a pool. Near town, beaches, shops and restaurants. When I was there in 2006 it was about $200/nigth. I think they said they offer weekly rates.

In Playa Del Carmen, Riviera del Sol. When we went it included a small breakfast buffet, it's just off the north end of the pedestestrian only section, they had a deal with the beach club (1 block to beach) where you got 2 chairs everyday, refrig. If you go, go to Babes for food- thai with a spin, we found it on day 3 and ate there daily till we went home.
