St.Thomas for a single lady

Hi,
I'll be in St.Thomas for 2 days by myself before a sailing cruise. I'm staying at a guest house above Sapphire Bay without a car. Can you recommend some things to do nearby? What about restaurants nearby? Are there any buses? I'm not into shopping. Thanks. Joan

hi joan, you're probably going to need to use taxi's or get a rental car. there are a couple places to eat/drink on sapphire beach, but they may be to far to walk from your villa.
nearby is coral world with lots of marine exhibits: www.coralworldvi.com
you can go to red hook and look around or take the 20 min ferry to st. john. there is a very nice small deli type store in red hook if you want to eat/cocktail at "your house".
several restaurants in red hook. great restaurant the blue moon cafe at secret harbour beach resort. if you like italian food try tony romano's on the coki beach road.
you could go over to see the very famous magen's bay beach.
hope you'll come back with a trip report on your sailing adventure.
fyi i would recommend you not walk around at night by yourself.

Hi, Just back from my wonderful sailing trip in USVI. I had been a bit apprehensive about staying alone in St.Thomas for 2 days prior to the sail. However, the guest house that I stayed in (VRBO.com #184695)worked out just perfectly- the room had a beautiful view, its own entrance and private bath. Peggy, the owner, had offered to pick up some groceries for me, so I had sandwiches, water and fruit waiting for me in my little refrigerator when I arrived. I could walk to Sapphire Beach or Peggy and Bill even drove me. I fell into "island mode" immediately and ended up just relaxing on Sapphire Beach for the 2 days. In the evening, I sat on my own small balcony and enjoyed the views. Peggy invited me to join her for water aerobics in Sapphire pool and lunch in CA and Bill even drove me to Red Hook to catch my boat. I had lots of privacy, but felt really comfortable. I never did need to use any taxis or buses, except to come from the airport(and Peggy even arranged that!) It was a great start to a wonderul 10 days.
