St. Thomas Dining

Staying 4 nights at the Ritz in East End/Red Hook area of STT, planning 4 nice dinners that don't require very long taxi rides -- one of the 4 will be special anniversary dinner (Maybe Havana Blue, or Banana Tree Grille?), the other 3 to be good but less fancy (maybe Off the Hook, East End Cafe, and Blue Moon Cafe) -- we used to like Agave Terrace but heard it has declined -- any advice or recommendations to help us pick our 4 dinner reservations?

i absolutely love havana blue. the food in fabulous and the decor/setting it just a treat for the eyes. blue moon cafe has changed their menu slightly, but is still under same management and has a great chef. one that you didn't mention is tony romano's. its italian food on the road into coki beach/coral world. very small, good food, he hangs his own paintings and you need a reservation.

My wife and I just returned from STT and had a fantastic dining experience at "Robert's" in the Elysian resort. The coconut crusted Mahi-Mahi is spectacular. The service was excellent and the setting is right on Cowpet Bay, a very picturesque spot. Try it, you won't be disappointed.

Yes, Agave is definitely not as good as it used to be. I would skip that one. If you go into frenchtown eat at Craig and Sally's. Having been to STT before maybe you have been, but its definitely my favorite on the island. Not close to the Ritz, but worth it! have fun.

For one special dinner, would you recommend Havana Blue more than Banana Tree Grille ?

For one special dinner I would recommend Old Stone Farmhouse over either of those two. The chef's sampler menu is fabulous and if you are lucky, and the restaurant isn't packed that night, you may even get a room all to yourselves.

I don't care for Havana Blue.....way too loud. Last time I was there it reminded me of being in one of the clubs on South Beach. We couldn't hold a conversation.

Banana Tree is a nice place and you will get a good view.
