I'm sure you will get a lot of replies to this question. You couldn't have picked two more diverse islands. St Lucia, lush, tropical, so-so beaches. Aruba, dry, arid, high rises, nicer beaches. Just depends on what you are looking for in your honeymoon.

We are looking for an overall picture, we have read quite a bit about Aruba, so I guess we are looking for more info on St. Lucia, atmosphere, food, shopping, just an overall feeling, thanks for pointing out my lack of specifics

One positive is Aruba is out of the hurricane belt and October is hurricane season. But, St. Lucia is probably my very favorite caribbean island and I am not alone. It is lush and beautiful and has a lot of culture. The pitons are the trademark twin mountains that you can't miss on the island. The beaches are cove type and not the long stretches. But, you can go into inlets and do some great snorkeling and boating. The island has changed in rule for the past 200 years between the British and the French, so you will see both influences. YOu will see the island woman walking with baskets on their head, children in school uniform and the sound of soca music blaring from everyone's radio. Likely that Banana trees will be growing right outside your hotel door. This is the real caribbean isle that most dream of. It does have some poverty as do most caribbean islands. I hope I helped you some.

St. Lucia all the way. Aruba is great but it is not romantic, peaceful or scenic as I am sure would want for a honeymoon. There are also some great places to stay in St. Lucia that are more romantic. Aruba is highrises and casinos and timeshares.
I would suggest staying in the South part of the island near Soufriere or Anse La Raye. Some possibilities are Ladera, Anse Chastenet, Ti Kaye Village even the Jalousie Hilton.
Wttgirl is wise to point out the hurricane season however I think I would chance it.
