St. Lucia - Need Info!!!

Hi All,

My fiance and I are getting married in St. Lucia this December (Rendezvous Resort). We would like as much info as possible about the island; hotel; activities; weddings...you get the idea?!?!

Any advice/info will be greatly appreciated as it's our first time in the Carribean and we don't know what to expect. We've read the all the brochures but would rather have first hand impressions from "real" people!

Thanks in advance,

David

just got back from St.Lucia. we stayed only one day at the Rendezvous because our flight the next day was up north. most of our time was spent in the south where the Pitons are. the ladera resort and the Hilton were beautiful. the beach was great and the Pitons were a sight to see. not a lot of night life it is a laid back island. the people of the island are sincerely friendly and go out of their way to be helpful. they make the island even more attractive. if you stay in the north make sure to take afew days at ladera or Hilton, it will be worth it.
good luck.

David,

St. Lucia is a wonderful island. I've been to several islands and St. Lucia ranks very high on my list.

First and foremost, the food is wonderful - so watch your waist line!

The land and sea tour, which was a northbound bus trip from Castries to a fishing island in the north and a return by boat with a steak lunch.

Just remember, your in the Carribean. Things take time. There are two speeds, slow and dead stop. So don't expect instant service. Relax and enjoy the scenes and especially the sunsets!

My husband and I went to St. Lucia for our honeymoon and recently returned from our second visit where we celebrated our five year anniversary. Both times we stayed at Windjammer Landing on the northern end of the island near Rodney Bay. There are a lot of activities and places to explore on the island during the day....take a catamaran to the pitons for the day and or a sunset cruise out of Rodney bay. There is a rainforest tour which I have never gone on but have heard wonderful things...the evenings on the island are quite and very relaxed. We had dinner at the Great House which I beleive is up near your hotel...excellent. Ladera is a nice restaurant, however, it is a long trip via car for dinner (1hour +). You may want to make a day trip of it and enjoy a nice lunch. Hope this is helpful.

You could not have picked a more gracious, romantic spot for your wedding and honeymoon. Food, rooms, staff and all inclusive aspect the best!! We have been twice and are planning a third trip next yr! Enjoy you will love it!

My fiance and I are also planning to get married in St. Lucia next March. We are going to have a smallish reception and are in the process of trying to figure out where we should stay and plan the reception.

If you have any advice either before or after your wedding would be much appreciated!

David - I suggest that you definately take advantage of the exchange priveledges of Rendezvous sister property LeSport. I think you'll have to spring for the taxi ride ( about a 20 minute ride) but dinner at TAO is a wonderful experience. The food is the best and it'd be comp since you're staying at Rendezvous...make sure to make ressies early during your stay as you may want to go back a 2nd time!!

I want to agree w/ the TAO suggestion! was there in dec'00. I didn't think all-inclusive food could be 5 star quality. A must go for you and yours!!!

Thanks for sharing your photos Jeff. How was the weather in St. Lucia when you visited. I'm thinking of going in July 2002 but I'm concerned with it being rainy season

My husband and I just returned from St. Lucia. We thought it was the most beautiful place. We were married at Ladera and everything was perfect. There is much to do on the island. We climbed Gros Piton and went mountain biking in the jungle. There are also tours that go to the drive in volcano and the waterfalls but we did not do that. We had to save some things for the next time we go. You will have a great time!!!!!!
