St Kitts and Nevis
I have been going back and forth between Mt. Nevis Hotel and Nisbet Plantation....and Golden Lemon and Ottleys Plantation. Any suggestions on which is nicer, better service? The ratings on all were pretty similar.

The reviews for all of these hotels are similar because they are fairly comparable. All have very friendly staff, very good to excellent food and well appointed accomodations. They are all well run resorts and have many repeat guests. Obviously two are on St. Kitts and two are on Nevis so you have to decide on which island you wish to stay. I've been at all of them and can honestly say that it would be difficult to say which one is better as they each have their own appeal. Nisbet's beach is bigger and has lighter sand than the one at the Golden Lemon but the water is calmer at Golden Lemon. Ottley's grounds and gardens are beautiful but Mt. Nevis Hotel has a better view of neighboring St. Kitts. Your best bet is to visit each hotel's web-site and see which one appeals most to you. You won't go wrong with any of them.

We were going to stay 4 days on each island so that we can really get the feel and not run back and forth. I loved the way Ottleys plantation looks but I think the beach fronts may fit our lifestyle better since we love the idea of spending the morning on the beach and doing an activity in the afternoon. Thanks

I returned in November from my first visit to Nevis. We stayed 5 nights at the Mount Nevis Hotel on a package that was purchased at Luxurylink.com. We loved the island and we enjoyed our stay at Mount Nevis, but we would probably pick another place to stay the next time we go to Nevis. You can look for my VERY long trip report on this forum under a title something like "Just back from Nevis."
We liked our room at Mt. Nevis very much and found it spacious and comfortable. Its location was ideal for hitting a different part of the island every day, but a rental car is essential. The food at dinner was consistently good but not quite as fantastic as the dinner at Montpelier, nor as all-around good comfort food of Cla-Cha-Del. The views of St. Kitts were beautiful and from the hotel you can walk down to the ruins of Cottle Church, the first place on Nevis where plantation owners and slaved worshipped together.
We spent two days at Nisbet at the beach and the water was too rough to enjoy much swimming, but the beach was beautiful. The service at Nisbet was less reserved than the service at Mt. Nevis. The two lunches we had were excellent.
I personally don't think that 4 nights would be enough on either island. We only did about half of the things we wanted to do with 5 nights. However, spending 4 nights on each island will also give you a great overview of both and the next time you travel you can pick the one you preferred to explore in more depth. The next time I go to Nevis, I will probably split my time between Montpelier and Nisbet, because I also like to have the convenience of being beachfront.

Thanks for the reply, it was very helpful. I tried to get a room at Montpelier but they were booked...I think I will lean towards Nisbet Plantation even though I have been reading about the rough water. I am going to check out your other post too. Thanks!
