It is "St. John" no "s"
Take Red Hook ferry as instructed and get Earle Thomas' taxi---call 340-776-6911 and ask for Earl to puck you up at Cruz Bay Ferry Dock St. John.
Ferry's run every hour on hour. Watch out for "baggage fees" if you bring a large bag.
If you want to snorkle Trunbk...You can rent gear from Low Ket Watersports at Cruz Bay ferry dock at Whafside Village.

Just to keep things simple for you, if you are doing the taxi route to Trunk Bay. There is no real need to call for a specific one. The are a multitude of them at the ferry dock during the day. You do have to wait for them to fill up, but it usually isn't too long. Trunk Bay also rents snorkel gear if you don't have your own.

Sorry Brenandg...i disagree..
You need a reputable taxi---and Erle is consiedred the best and reliable.
You get more than a ride to Trunj---he gives you a sense of history along the way...and you dont pay extra for it...
Trunk Nay rents gear---but at a premium price...Lowkey much cheaper.
