St. John - A change to our plans.

Our original plan was Caneel Bay for 6/20 to 6/25 and a villa for 6/25 - 7/2. We decided to nix Caneel afterall and stay at the villa the entire time.

We redeemed miles for our flights from SFO to STT on United. Yesterday, United contacted us and said they have cancelled our flight on the 19th to STT from Dulles and they rebooked us on the 17th! We tried to get them to rebook us on US Air's flight on the 19th, but that proved useless. Luckily we are fairly flexible and can travel on those days.

Soooo, we have two extra days to deal with. I guess this is a good problem to have. Our villa is not available, so I will need to book something for two nights. We could stay on STT for two nights or we could find a place to stay on St.John. It might be fun to spend two days in STT and recover from the overnight flight. Any thoughts?

Thanks,

Bill

Never a bad thing to spend extra time in paradise. There are a number of places to stay on St. John during that time, but you might have some difficulties because July 4 is very big in St. John and availability for 2 nights may be tough. You should try Estate Lindholm, Garden By The Sea, or if you are inclined to rough it a little, St. John Inn or Tamarind Court. Or you could go back to original plan and stay 2 nights at Caneel, or even the Westin. On St. Thomas you will get a much wider range of choices and budgets. It may very well be fun to explore St. Thomas a bit. I think it gets a bad rap because the cruise ships go there. Magens Bay and many other beaches on St. Thomas are glorious. The views from the mountain top is breathtaking too.

As Tuxedocat suggested, Estate Lindholm would be a nice place to stay for two days. Beautiful setting and view, easy walk down to town (cab it back up) and easy walk to the beach. I assume they still serve breakfast each morning plus they have a cool honor bar that you can use to fix yourself a coctail or grab some water or coke. Small, but nice pool too.

Good luck in your search!

Thanks. I'm leaning towards St. John. Thanks for the suggestions. I'm also going to check with Gallows Point I think.

Estate Lindholm was booked. I ended up booking an upper level harborview unit at Gallows Point for those two nights.
Thanks!
