2 nights on St. Thomas and 5 nights on St. John or 7 nights on St. John?
My husband and I are planning a seven-night vacation and I am trying to work out an itinerary. Should we spend 2 nights on St. Thomas and 5 nights on St. John or 7 nights on St. John? Is it worth splitting up the trip to get a feel for both islands?
Our interests are relaxing, snorkeling and eating! If I do spend two nights on St. Thomas, in which part of the island should I stay? Any recommendations are welcome!

7 days on St. John! It's a much more pristine, relaxed island. I would recommend St. Thomas if you like duty free shopping. There are so many beaches to explore on St. John that you won't gte bored. Also great hiking trails. And lots of cute, local shops and wonderful restuarants.

I'd definitely suggest 7 nights on St. John. Unless you have a pretty early flight out of St. Thomas on your departure, in which case I'd recommend spending your last night there so that you don't have to worry about ferry schedules in order to make your flight. That way you get to taste two islands instead of one.

Thanks everyone! If you have any great, affordable villa rentals to throw out there, I'd appreciate it...a studio is all we need. As a first timer to St. John, I read that I should stay neat Cruz Bay. We def want to be able to walk to restaurants and bars at night. Thanks!

One more vote for all on St.John. You cannot find any really good snorkeling just off St.Thomas and the restaurants other than at the Ritz Carlton are very limited though there are several nice beaches on St. Thomas. Based on your budget the Westin is a 5.5 out of 10 (highest) and Caneel is a 8.5 but 2.5-3 times the price but snorkeling off 7 beaches right at the resort good to very good food and lovely beaches on 170 acreas.
