It is in the hotel called The Palms. Right on Pelican Cove beach... The Palms used to be called Commorant (or something like that.)
Go to Elizabeth's!! You will really enjoy it!

The Galleon Restaurant up from Cheney Resort is by far the most consistent restaurant on island now.

Ex. Chef is formetr of awad winning Stone Terrace is st john.

Owners should advertise more---but then again---they have suchg a loyal following and dont need it.

Tableside caesar sald, gretra wine list and services, and freshest ingredients.

Nearly all that havce posted their recommendatiosn dont appeal to "foodies"

my opinion of this list:
Salud! trying hard...ok
Kendricks over-rated forget it
Savant
Bacchus over-rated forget it
Duggan's Reef oh please
Le St. Tropez not worth it

I think these are more casual...?
Elizabeth's try it...
Sunset Grill........best sunset around food merely OK---drink beer there
Villa Morales---no
Rumrunners over-rated forget it

The BEST grilled lobster is Cane Bay Reef at Bogey's...fantastiv prices, sunets, laid back and good wine...

Thanks for all of the responses and opinions everyone.

TXgalinGA--appreciated the additional info on Elizabeth's and we may try it if we rent a car while there.

Marbleheadguy--I'm admittedly not a "foodie" so I just appreciate hearing about the food choices, atmosphere, whatever. While I would agree with you on your assesment of Kendrick's food quality, for us half the enjoyment there is the atmosphere. We can't eat in an open air courtyard, with candlelight, surrounded by Danish Colonial architecture back here in Boston. So we just sit back and enjoy it.
We rediscovered Galleon last year and were impressed with the food. It clearly has a big on-island, upscale following so they must not need to advertise. We'll go back in February (plus my husband loves to visit the marina before we eat).

One of the reasons we enjoy STX so much is that there are many restaurant options with good to great food and good to great atmosphere. We balance those two out and eat at the spots we enjoy. And for our family, that includes revisiting places that bring back great memories of family time together.

Ah, yet another .great. review from Marble. If you think Bacchus is overrated, you are insane. I still have dreams about the Brie Crouton that topped my mixed field green salad. If I could trade my left hand for a brie crouton every day, I'd be "peck typing" as we speak!

I just returned from St Croix, and must say SALUD was wonderful, cozy, not on the sea, but it was a nice change, mussels were my first and LOVED them, and the MAC AND CHEESE made with Truffle oil and shrooms were to die for, I had to get recipe and plan on making tonite, prime rib excellent and I heard the "beef tongue" melted in your mouth like roast beef, guess they have many imaginative dishs and also all the service was fantastic, especially Jerrys Mojitos (SP).

We're just back from STX (yes, it's been snowing in Boston since we arrived home!) and I thought I'd offer some thoughts on our restaurant choices.

Basically, we were very pleased with all of the restaurants and thought they were as good or better than ever. A few service issues but nothing that was horrific. We are not foodies but enjoy good food in a good atmosphere with friendly service.

Kendricks - thought the food was better than last year (went expecting the worst given some reviews here and elsewhere). Still love the atmosphere. Service a bit slow toward the end of dinner but it wasn't helped by our 3:30 a.m. bedtime the night before. Will definitely go back.

Bacchus - awesome as always. Went twice because we enjoyed it so much. Great service. Love the beet salad. Kids really loved the ribeye steak and our fish dishes (wahoo and mahi) were delicious. First night were in the front room which is very historic. Second night in our usual booth in the back room. More trendy and less STX-like but still great.

Rumrunners - actually thought the food was better than usual and we still love Rumrunners. As my husband says, "It doesn't get any better than this!" O.k., Marbleheadguy, you'll think he's nuts. But to us, sitting on the harbour, eating lobster quesadillas, drinking painkillers, being with our family and listening to Gunn & Raine sing great harmony....it's just terrific. Went twice. Husband loved the grouper special and both mahi specials were great. If you go in February, you MUST go when Gunn & Raine are singing....they really make it the perfect beach spot!

Salud! Bistro - a great find. A bit beyond C'sted on the Northeast side. Didn't expect much in the decor department given that it's in a strip mall. Were pleasantly surprised when we walked in. I'd call it a Spanish/Mediterranean decor. Service was not as friendly as some but not bad. Food was quite good. The wahoo was delicious and the steak was so well-seasoned that my husband (who didn't even order it!) is still talking about it. Unfortunately, two of us had the seafood pasta dish and the shrimp in it were bad. No one got sick but the smell and taste were unappetizing. Salud handled it well--gave us free new entrees and bought me a glass of wine. Would definitely go back. Pricey but a bit less expensive than Bacchus or Kendricks (probably due to location). Clearly a local spot.

Duggans Reef - always love the lobster pasta and this year was no different. We're not crazy about the famous Frank. Always seems to be less than thrilled to have tourists there (maybe we're sensitive since we share a love of Boston with him). We asked to be moved to a less windy table (it was VERY blustery that night). Frank said, "Everyone wants to sit there. I can't move you." So we hunker down. Only to have a menu literally take flight off the table and knock over my daughter's virgin strawberry dacquiri into her lap. Now it's really cold. Would still go back but not for the warm welcome. Nice to go there this time when it was still relatively light out and we could see Buck Island. It's a great spot.

Terrace Room, Buccaneer - this is where we stay but have steered clear of the dinners here in the past (had always been too pricey for too little). But in the past two years, it has really improved so we gave it another try. The food was excellent and you can't be the atmosphere--nice view, candlelight and live background music. Plus we save on cab fare.

All in all, we ate and drank our way (again) through STX and loved it. Put on a few pounds but enjoyed doing so.
