St Augustine restaurant?

Can anyone recommend a restaurant in St. Augustine for a nice lunch or early dinner. We're going tomorrow, Friday the 13th!!! Would love your ideas for a fun place with good food, a nice view, something to remember. How 'bout it?

Hello geordias-

Here is my absolute top recommendation for a memorable lunch:

The Cafe Alcazar, (25 Granada St.,
904-824-781) is located behind the Lightner Museum. It occupies the deep end of what was the casino swimming pool in the former Alcazar Hotel. Only lunch is served there, Tuesday – Saturday.
Trust me, you will not be disappointed and it won't break the bank either. It is very unique! P.S. Bring your camera.

Others may comment on the Columbia. IMHO, their food is good (not great) and the whole atmosphere is very touristy. The Cafe Alcazar is the complete opposite of a chain restaurant.

As an alternative, The Reef <http://www.thereefstaugustine.com/> may be of interest to you. The food is excellent and the ocean view (ask for a table by the window) is outstanding. It's the kind of place you want to go back to in the future.

Thanks Orlando Vic

We took your advice and had lunch at the Cafe Alcazar. It was a terrific recommendation !!! We both ordered the Crepes filled with spinach, ricotta, onions, etc. and it was wondeful. We asked and received the recipe in general terms.

We had dinner at the Columbia Restaurant....good but very pricey.

Then we had a cocktail at the Creekside Dinery which is a fun place. Next time, we will try to eat there on the way home. It was a beautiful evening, we sat outside by the open fireplace pit, roasted marshmellos along with the kids, had a wine and listed to the live music. Loved it. All in all, we had a great day. Thanks again.

Glad you had such a great day.
Next time, by all means, have dinner at the Creekside Dinery. Our favorite place in St Augustine. Outside dining is especially neat when the weather is nice.

Bubba,

Thanks for your reply to the Creekside. When we walked in, we were pretty stuffed. But the aroma in the air was wonderful. Smelled like BBQ ribs.

It was a nice evening and we sat outside & I definately would like to eat there if we can go back.

What do you recommend on the menu?

Any kind of shrimp dinner is really good. For their menu, go to:
