St Croix Advice

Will be visiting St Croix in April for Anniversary. Staying at Buccaneer-Oceanfront Room. Would appreciate any advise as to dining, activities and general St Croix info pro and con. Thanks in advance

Excellent choice! We stayed there and really enjoyed it.

Their Terrace restaurant is very good. We liked the Galleon at Green Cay and Duggans was good. We had many places recommended to us but didn't have time to try them all. Villa Madeline is supposed to be very good but we didn't make it there. There are several in town as well.

Rent a car and drive around. Take a snorkel trip to Buck Island, have a great time!

I second the Galleon and the trip to Buck Island. We also had a great meal at the Top Hat.

Here's my 2-cents worth: by all means go to the Cultured Pelican for Sunday Brunch (if you're there on Sunday) at the Coakley Bay condos - the view was fantastic, food excellent and reasonably priced - we also enjoyed Harvey's (in C'sted) for local cuisine and Duggan's had good lobster but I wouldn't recommend their conch fritters!

I agree with Jane 100%. Duggans had the worst conch fritters I have ever had. Eating them was like trying to eat a ball of rubber bands. LOL

There are SO many good rest. on St Croix. My favorites are The Galleon, Tutto Benne and the Sunday brunch at Carambola. The brunch is a little pricy, but the food is great and it includes all the bloody marys and mimosas you can drink. Plus the setting is beautiful. One place that I thought was the pits was the restuarant at The Waves - yuck! Rent a car and drive around the entire island, make sure you get to Point Udall, Buck Island, Whim Plantation and the rainforest (Route 69 - its called The Beast for a reason - gorgeous views)
If you have more questions, feel free to email me direct.

Also going to the Buccaneer in April (27th to 30th) after a stay in San Juan. Thanks for the info. Is Buck Island as nice as they say?

Awesome! But be sure to go in the morning for the best light. We took a trip out there once that went out at about 2 and the light was not good and everything looked blah.

Would agree with all of Jennifer's choices, with the addition of Indies. Rufus sings there on Saturday nights, it's especially nice that night. also, casino is now open at Divi

Buck Island was nice - we went on a full-day cruise with Big Beard's - it cost I think approx. $70 each - this included a BBQ lunch on the beach (not on Buck Island though) with grilled burgers, hot dogs, kingfish and rum punch - we enjoyed it, however; we would opt for the 1/2 day trip the next time and would definitely take the morning trip as Cheri recommended...STX was great!

We took 1/2 day to Buck Island through a cruise and it was too little time. We didn't even get ONTO the beach, and only had about 45 minutes to snorkel. Water was rather rough, but visibility incredible!! Next time we'll take our chances on a full day sail. it depends on what you want...
