My husband and I are staying in a villa during our first trip to St. Barts in May. We will be buying groceries for breakfast, lunch, and snacks. Do the grocery stores, specifically Match across from the airport, carry most of the same brands that are carried in the States? Thanks!

Becca - things are imported from France, I dont recall seeing many if any US brands, but then when I am in st barths, I dont really want US brands, the food you get there is far better. Is there something specific you need?

We go back in Nov. and are renting a villa too. You will love St Barths! It is so great!

Match is well stocked. You won't miss anything. As an aside, we did see Kirkland brand products (ala Costco).

The grocery stores carry quite a few "American Brands" and you'll be able to easily recognize the European versions of many of your "comfort foods". Don't be concerned, you'll have plenty of selections.

Becca, I'm not a big grocery store kind of guy, but I love the grocery stores in St. Barts. Everything comes from France, so it's much more fun than going to the local Kroger/Acme, etc. Our favorite is the supermarche directly across from the airport (a little more low rent charm than the Match), but in any case the grocery stores in sbh are great for all of the essentials - wine, cheese, rum, and oj. Believe me, there's no excuse to go hungry in St. Barts.

There are practically no U.S. brands at all, with maybe just a handful of exceptions. Everything sold is either imported directly from France or one of the other islands.
