Sonesta, Bermuda

Help! Planning a trip to Bermuda in September. Was going to book The Sonesta but have been reading many posts in message boards saying it is dated and not a good place to stay. Has anyone stayed there recently? Should we book the Southampton Princess instead?

Go with the Southampton Princess and if you can swing it try Entre Gold Level. We just returned from 11 days at the Hamilton Princess. While we were there friends of my daughter stayed at the Sonesta and they hated it. They spent most of their time next door at The Reefs where other friends were staying.

I agree - go with the Southampton. If you can't swing the Gold level, make sure you request an upper floor with a harbor view. The ocean view rooms overlook the front entrance and it can be quite noisy when out on the balcony. The harbor view is beautiful. I understand that the Sonesta has just changed hands and will be undergoing renovation. Have you considered The Reefs?

Thanks for your replies. Booking the trip with a travel agent through GM. My husband works in sales and accummulates points so we are using them for a vacation. Unfortunately we are limited to the two Princess properties, Sonesta or Harmony Club. Would love to try the Reefs, it looks beautiful. Maybe next time.

Just returned from the Harmony Club. If you don't mind NOT being directly on the beach, it was a good deal. Meals and drinks included, beach rights (chairs, umbrellas, and changing facilities) available at Elbow Beach.

You can't go wrong with either Fairmont property. We prefer the Hamilton as we like to walk to the many restaurants at night. Fairmont Southampton has a wonderful new spa that has been getting rave reviews. Whichever Princess you chose you can use the facilities at both. There is also a free ferry shuttle that takes you between the properties. Just ask for the shuttle schedule when you check in.

Harmony is also a good choice and has lots of repeat customers.

If you have any other questions, please feel free to email me.
