I am trying to find a place for 5 nights in June. Rates at the resorts I like are 500+ a night in summer, so I am looking for an alternative. We are a couple, looking for nice, clean accomodations with a great view. I am looking at these two places and can't decide. Anyone have some input? Thx.

I have stayed at Marley Beach several times but not in the last four years. The accomodations are spartan and limited, but during my stay the rooms were kept very clean. The views are incredible. There is a small beach and small pool for your use. You will be able to catch the bus right in front of the property. The kitchen is a boon for money saving. The grocery store is about a mile away, but I usually go into town and buy some prepared food at Miles Market. The rooms have grills. When DH and I stayed there we thought we were kings of the universe, nothing beats watching a storm cross the ocean from that cliff view at Marley. Have a wonderful time. Bermuda is another world.

We didn't stay at Munro but stayed at nearby Whale Bay. I'd guess that Munro has the best view per dollar in Bermuda. It sits overlooking the south shore between Whale Bay and Pompano Beach Club. Keep in mind that at Munro you will be somewhat off the beaten path in terms of transportation.

My girlfriend and I are heading to Munro Beach in Bermuda from June 30 - July 5th. Anybody have experience with Munro? We also want to bring wine, is this okay?

We stayed at Munro cottages over Memorial Day and absolutely loved it! There are 8 or 10 duplex cottages overlooking the ocean. Their web site does not do it justice. The water is crystal clear for hundreds of yards off the beach, and their private beach is beautiful. Even though there were other people there, we felt as though it was very quiet and private. We had an end unit (slightly more expensive) and it was worth it because there was only the golf course and the ocean to the left of us. A warning - this hotel is not for everyone. There are no amenities - i.e. there is no restaurant on site, no concierge service. It is a 10-15 minute walk to the main road. It is a 20-25 minute walk to the grocery store. However, the solitude we felt was competely worth it. We loved having a kitchenette - we bought food at the MaxiMart down the road and made breakfasts and dinner there. We grilled steaks in the backyard. We brought wine down to the private beach in the evening. We did go out to dinner a couple of nights and hired taxis several times to drive us around. Even though there are far more luxurious hotels in Bermuda, we felt utterly content with our cottage and we hope to go back. After our stay there, we both said we would not want to stay at a resort because our experience was so peaceful at Munro.

In terms of your question about bringing wine - did you mean into Bermuda from the States? I'm not sure what the answer to that is, in terms of what Customs would allow. If you mean, can you bring it to the cottages, the answer is - absolutely. Just walk or take a cab to the Maximart down the street - they have a liquor store there.
