Small Family Resort
Hello, My family is trying to determine our spring break destination in the Caribbean. We have two children - ages 9 and 12. We have been vacationing in Belize for the past three years but want to try something new. The things we love about Belize: great fishing (inner reef), calm clear waters, laid-back atmosphere, small beachfront villas. We would like to find a small, ocean-front resort, possibly all-inclusive but not mandatory. We like smaller resorts but we would like there to be some children for the kids to play with. Activities we enjoy include scuba, snorkeling, and fishing. And I don't want to break the bank...goal would be around $7000 for 6 nights. Things we do not want: huge resort where everything is a mile to get to, large crowds and crowded beaches (not Atlantis!). So, I know...tall order!! Anyone have a diamond in the rough? We definitely enjoy our upscale vacations but this doesn't have to be one... I am OK with more rustic if the place is clean and the restaraunt(s) are good (forgot to mention we love good food of course)!
THANK YOU!!
THANK YOU!!

Check out some of the family oriented "condo resorts" on Providenciales (Turks & Caicos)- they are perfect for families. Look at Ocean Club or Ocean Club West for starters. If condo's don't fit your style there are plenty of small villas for rent around the island.
Also look at Jolly Harbor Villas or other small resorts on Antigua.

Grand Cayman is a nice low key island with many condo options. Snorkel and scuba is excellent!
I have read, but never been, about a hotel resort called the Buccanear, http://www.thebuccaneer.com/ located on St. Croix. They are a resort that gears towards families, but not in the Atlantis/Beaches kind of way.

Definitely Yes to the Buccaneer at St Croix.

I have two threads about it, in which I describe how much we liked it for our family celebration. We were 5 adults, in three oceanfront rooms (we were upgraded when we arrived). Perfection.
