Tiff, Grand Cayman is a good choice also. If your concerned about high prices for food and drinks, there are 2 AI properties. The Beach Club Colony on 7 Mile Beach and the Reef Resort on the East End. Just be sure to research them well as they are not for everyone.

There are also several condo type hotel you can stay in that have kitchettes.

Cheapcaribean.com has been having a sale on Grand Cayman. Don't know if it's still valid. I have a friend that just booked 2 weeks for April at the Beach Club Colony and it was right at $3,000. I couldn't get anywhere near that price from my departure area.

The Tulum area is very lovely and the town is quaint and small and give me the feeling of a small fishing village that has not been taken over by progress. I say enjoy it while you can because I am sure 10 years form now it will become over ran with hotels and tourists.

Hi Tiff, Glad you like the choices. We usually stay at Las Ranitas so can't comment on the rooms at Ana y Jose but the beach area is nice as is the beach bar/snack bar.

Oh, I am dying to get there and very soon! I'm with Jiffer -- think it will be quite different in 10 years. Already has changed a bit since the hurricane hit Cancun as it pushed people south temporarily and they discovered a little bit of heaven in Tulum.

Here is an aerial view of Any y Jose's beach area:

and another page with pictures of the "resort":

See ya, Tiff!
