Rum Cake from Grand Cayman

Are there very many different brands of Rum Cake? We received some as a gift about a year ago and we enjoyed it very much, but we don't remember the name of the company that made it.

What brand would you recommend if there are many to choose from? Where would you buy it, grocery store? liquor store? gift shop?

There are two companies on the island that make rum cake.... Blackbeard's Rum Company and Tortuga Rum Company....

You can purchase rum cake from almost anywhere on the island - grocery stores, liquor stores, gas stations - don't worry you won't have any problem finding them - they'll find you!

My favourite is Blackbeard's (it's moister) but you can taste both when you're there.... each company has an average of 6 to 12 flavours... my favourites are the original, coconut, mango and chocolate.

Enjoy.

Thanks, for the reply. It sounds good, I think we will try a bunch out.
I had not realized that there were so many flavors. I have had the original and that was goooood!

"Tortuga stores" are all over the island. You will be offered to sample rum cake so many times throughout your stay that you can decide for yourself which is your favorite flavor. Though I am not an avid fan of Rum cake-I have to agree with the previous poster. I do think that Blackbeards is more moist. Regardless I brough back Tortuga's Pinapple flavour because overall I felt that had the best taste. Check out their websites.

sorry, I gotta disagree, I think Tortuga rum cake is the better tasting of the two. Blackbeards has an overwhelmingly alcoholic taste I thought. But you can try small sizes of both nearly anywhere, and also the Tortuga rum factory gives you free samples. Sometimes when we have a craving we'll even order it from the internet and have it delivered here to the States!
