Riviera Maya

Would it be okay to vacation in Playa del Carmen/Riviera Maya April 2-10 with three young children? I really don't want to be around the Spring Breakers in Cancun with my children. Also, we were planning to stay at the Mayan Palace Riviera Maya. Does anyone recommend this for a family? Is this a good family vacation for two boys (ages 9 and 12) and a daughter (5)?

Thank you!

You may want to post on the Latin America forum where Mexico posts are located.

As far as April goes, I know that the majority of spring breaks fall in March so hopefully you should be fine.

You should be okay in Playa del Carmen. The spring breakers stay in cancun and you will be about 45 min south of there.

Mainly there are all family resorts south of cancun. The only time you will see spring breakers is at the airport!

Have fun. I love the area and have been 5 times. I haven't stayed at the Mayan Palace, so can't comment, but the caribbean is wonderful and you should have a great time!

Peace, Greenie

Actually, since so many hotels in Cancun are still closed, some of the "spring breakers" have made their way to the Riviera Maya.

That's what I was wondering...did they shift away from cancun. I checked on the Hyatt, Hilton and Marriott are all closed so the spring breakers have to make alternative plans. don't know where they are going.

Most of the resorts in Rivera Maya do not rent to spring breakers.

I have just read on a couple other boards that the spring breakers have indeed hit some resorts on the RM and in Playa Del Carmen. Trip Advisor had several posts on this topic and so did the Iberostar boards.

BEachgirl, Riviera Maya posts seem to be about equally split between this forum and Latin America.
