How crazy is Cancun during spring break?

We're planning a family trip for 26 people, ranging from ages 2 to 65. We want to do an all-inclusive and keep costs low so no one feels put-out. Everyone's interested in Cancun, but we're going in mid-March -- it seems to be the most convenient time for everyone. How crazy will it be? Any areas that are quieter than others? If we choose a higher-end hotel there, will we be able to avoid some of the chaos? I went in July and the scene was pretty laid-back. But would we be crazy to go in the spring? Would Punta Cana be any better during that time?

Try Playa Del carmen, about 30 miles south of Canucn. There are dozens of very nice AI resort and most, if not all don't allow spring breakers. They tend to be either adults only, or family friendly.

I've been to Cancun that time of year. It all depends on where you stay. The spring breakers tend to stay at the cheaper resorts. When we were there, we did notice a bunch at the Cancun Palace, and some other hotel with Oasis in the name. I'm sure there are many, many more. We also did AI, and we're not into nightlife so we didn't cross paths with many springbreakers.
