Riveria Maya or Negril Jamaica ?
Need some advice. Family of five with 3 teenage girls. Two of us like to snorkle, the
others like to read books and float in a pool. We all enjoy eating! Wife wants all inclusive.
Was looking at Iberostar Paraiso Lindo in Mexico and I was wondering if there
is something on the same level of quality (food, service, Etc) on the Negril
side of Jamaica? Do not want to go to Beaches unless Fodorites convince me
otherwise.
Thanks
Mark H.

friends have been to the iberostars (not sure which one) several times with their teens and love them. apparently you can use facilities at all 4. at least one of them has a teen club with dancing & non alcoholic drinks served til the middle of the night. can't help with negril.

While my wife and I and all our friends who have been to both much prefer Negril (not a slam on the Riviera Maya, just a statement on how much we love Negril) I would have to say in your particular case Mexico is probably the best bet. Beaches Negril is very expensive and from my experience walking past it on our many beach walks the 3 to 10 year old set comprise the majority of the children staying there. The rest of the all inclusives in Negril are either adult only or fairly low budget affairs which would be lacking in activities, etc for your teens.

Hey there,
Been to both locations the last 2 years.
Loved both! My suggestion are to use these 2 sites and compare:
www.playa.info
and
www.onestopnegril.com
^this site has a map of hotels on the beach/cliff and shows whether they offer AI or not, up to you!
If possible, I'd suggest not to do AI in both places just because the local food in both places are great!
When I go to Negril, I always stay out on the cliffs...quieter, more beautiful to me, and I absolutely love going to Rick's Cafe.
In the Riveria, I tend to go to Playa del Carmen or Tulum. Both are beautiful.
Depends on the age of your girls and if you want AI or not.
Playa has many good AI's,
