Restaurants in Cayman
First timers to Cayman. We are looking for the best restaurants for b,l and d. They do not have to be fancy places just a good meal. At least taste like Anthony's on Paradise Island or Two twin brothers on Nassau. Also, please include prices and dress codes in response. For breakfast fruit, bagles and waffles are fine. For lunch a turkey or club sandwich with soup and salad. And for dinner a nice pasta, chicken or fish dish will be fine. Also, we are staying at the Westin are there any okay restaurants on site? For those who want to know - The Ritz will be taking reservations for January. At least that is what I was told last week. You have to call the Miami location to booked for the Cayman?

My favorites on Grand Cayman are: Paradise Reef Grill and Crow's Nest. Paradise Reef is a local bar with excellent food. They have a patio outback. You can watch the snorkelers and cruiseships while dining on some of the best conch fritters and mahi mahi I've ever had.
Crow's Nest is further south. They have a great screened in porch for dining that looks over the water. Excellent food, remarkable service and just all around wonderful.
Dress for both places is casual. No reservations necessary. Have a great time.

For breakfasts, Eats is great. casual, diner type place that has good food, large portions and is cheap!
Coconut Joe's s a fun, casula place for lunch or dinner. The Tree House is another good place.
For nice dinners, Reef Grill and Smugglers Cove are not to be missed. If you like sushi, Bamboo is great.
A few places that I did not make it to but have heard very good things about are Deckers, Calypso Grill and Bed.

Eats is right across the street from the Westin and has great breakfasts! Casual and cheap. The Lone Star is within walking distance and is good for lunch or dinner and also inexpensive. Rita night is a good night to go. Check the brochures that are all around that tell you which nights. A popular fancier place is the Grand Old House - I recommend reservations. If you like greek food, try Athena's.

We stayed at the Westin for a portion of our trip this past June. It is beautiful and has a great beach! Eats, as was suggested, is right across the street, moderately priced, and has good food. We did not eat at the Westin, as had not heard great reports of their restaurants. In addition to Calypso Grill and Smuggler's for pricey dinners, we liked Cafe Med. Food was excellent and pricing more moderate. I'd also heard that Casanova's is good. You can also see sample menus on-line at, I believe, Caymanrestaurants.com.

We just got back from our first trip to to Grand Cayman. We had a great time. I want to thank everyone who posted information on this website. We enjoyed our trip more because of the information we received from you.
There was a great note posted in June by gores95 who had the choice of 6 great restaurants to eat at. We tried to eat at all 6-and are now back on a diet.
The top two restaurants in my opinion are Smugglers Cove and The Reef. The service and food at both were fantastic. The Casa Havana at the Westin was good but stuffy and I think overpriced for even the Cayman Islands.
You should visit Pappagalos for the view of the pond and the beautiful interior along with the parrots. You can ask for half portions of the pasta dishes and you can taste two different dishes. The food was very good and the prices reasonable.
The Brasserie was closed when we went to eat lunch there and there was no activity in the business buildings nearby. We did not make it to the Wharf as it was closed for the Hurricane Charley visit.
The Hurricane did not hurt the Island.
We did the all day Stingray sandbar and snorkeling with Captain Marvin and it was great. You should bring a snorkel tube and mask with you and go snorkeling off 7 mile beach. We stayed at the Marriott Courtyard and the staff was wonderful.

We liked Bed -- they have a website at www.bed.com.ky. The food at the lighthouse was good, but the service was almost nonexistent.

We were 1st timers in June. I loved Grand Ole House, expensive tho. During our dinner we heard a man scream, he got his dinner check and it was $500 US.
Poor Guy!!! Now we skipped the drinks, apps and deserts and came in at $100 US.
