Frank,

I think you will like the Raddison, it is in the center of everything at Cable Beach. There are lots of restaurants in the area, and of course there are several good restaurants right at the Raddison.

The Marriott is right next door if you want to try your hand at the casino.

Your daughter would probably enjoy the Junkanoo at Johnny Canoe's which is next door at the Nassau Beach and good Bahamian food there.

I would highly recommend the Ardastra Zoo and Gardens as a day trip. Take the #10 bus and you have to walk about a city block to the Zoo. Lots of interesting animals there and of course the Flamingo March.

Downtown Nassau you also might enjoy a tour of the Pirate Museum and of course on Paradise Island, walk around and see some of the Atlantis. The grounds and aquariums there are amazing. It is crowded, but August is low season, so it shouldn't be too bad.

August is also HOT, so bring LOTS of sun block. You daughter will burn easily and having done that many times, lol, I now lather up frequently.

The beach at the Raddison is fairly large and there might be a few sellers on the beach and hair braiders, just a polite "no thank you" and they are on their way.

The grounds and the pool areas are very nicely done, and the rooms are fine.

Overall you should have a good time.

Enjoy.

tweedy

to [email protected].

Thanks for the info. Did you sign up your daughter for the Camp Junkoroo? Where did she like to eat? Where did you and your spouse or sig. other and daughter like going together? Thank again!

To Tweedy and rr,

I'm glad to read that you had a good time at the Radisson. We are heading there (family of four) for one week over Christmas. Can you tell me if getting around town is difficult via the jitneys? Or is better to take a taxi? We have never done an all-inclusive and aren't too interested in organized tours of the town. We would rather do things on our own time. Also, did you go to Atlantis? If so, how did you get there? etc. Thank you.

During the day the "bus" is the best way to get around town and it will stop just about at your door every 5 to 10 minutes heading downtown. The last stop on the bus is the straw market and the port where the cruise ships dock. Right there you will also find the water taxis over to Paradise Island and you can walk from there to the Atlantis.

The Atlantis is an amazing complex and if you have the time go over and see as much as you can. You might have lunch in one of the restaurants and of course tour the casino and the grounds.

The Raddison also has lovely grounds and a nice beach area. It's hot there in August so just remember the sun screen and reapply it often, especially on the kids.

Have a great time and give us your thoughts when you get back.

tweedy
