Quick & Quiet 10th. Anniversary

My wife and I are taking our much delayed honneymoon for our 10th Anniversary in April 04. We only have five days/four nights from the Mid Atlantic. We need peace and quiet from our "two under four". I'd like to be on the beach in the afternoon. We just want to be alone at a nice resort with decent food. We're not looking for anything with crowds or activities. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

No doubt you will get lots of suggestions but given the fact that it needs to be quick and you are going in April I think the Bahamas would be good.

I would like to suggest either Compass Point in Nassau or Pink Sands on Harbour Island. I have stayed at both and I think that either one would be perfect for you! Both are supremely peaceful, nice and have more than decent food. Your wife will love either place!

My husband and I are also planning our 10th anniversary. We are able to go away in Oct 2003. We have the same criteria and have done lots of research and reading. The only other thing we wanted was a place with a good restaurant on premises so we wouldn't have to leave (we only have 4 days). So...we are booking The Caves in Negril, Jamaica. It's a bit pricey but its all inclusive. There are only 10 rooms/suites cottage style. It is located on the Cliffs in Negril. It seems that there are a few resorts on the cliffs in Negril that may meet your needs - Rockhouse, Tensing Pen, Xtabi. Good luck. There are two web sites worth checking out: negril.com and luxurylink.com for super deals on nice places.

I agree with the two above posts. Negril, Jamaica has tons of quaint smaller places both on the cliffs and on the beach that are a bit away from the hustle but get that local flavor.

Compass Point in the Bahamas is a great little place. There are cabanas right ont he water on stilts, the restaurant there is excellent, small beach and pool, very private.

I like the idea of Compass Point. The rooms don't seem too expensive, but I would think eating there every day would drain my life savings. Thanks to everyone's advice.

After hearing about Compass Point I too was interested. I searched the Fodors Forums for Compass Point and surprisingly found many, many negative comments about the place. Check it out.

Try considering Turks and Caicos Island. (provo) There maybe direct flights from your location.(??) If it is peace and quiet you are seeking this is the place. Beautiful beaches. Punta Cana is also an option. Many fine AI and also a wonderful beach. Reasonably priced.

Pink Sands on Harbour Island is amazing and this is a very relaxing island. You will feel so rested! Also, Little Palm Island off of the Florida Keys - this is a very easy place to get to- since travel time and energy are a factor for you. The other GREAT thing about it is that it is very small, making your days so simplified. It was so romantic and very beautiful. A perfect place to get rejuvinated in all aspects of your life/marriage. Have fun wherever you go! Happy anniversary!
